Hey Deng Manyang, how are you doing there brother? How is your school going? I am pretty much doing okay here in Canada and wish you and your family a very good Easter though it may not make much impression because you believe in Gat-Nyayiel. It has come to my attention just a few days ago that you are now Australia UCA information officer. Congratulation! I have remembered and known you for a long time that you will deliver what is expected of you as a leader. Since Bayieth (Yomding) days, I have known you as someone who have never let go of his firm beliefs. Now that I have sent you my Easter greeting and congratulatory message, I would be free now to put my thoughts straight onto your enquiry about Ulang commissioner election. In fact, many of us exaggerate election campaign news because we think a change is badly needed now then in five more Months. But Southern Sudan government has rules and regulations as to when an election or appointment should be made. Those who have started declaring their candidatures have to be confirmed by their respective political parties and then down to Southern Sudan electoral commission if it turns out that commissioner is to be elected by the people. Now that election is pushed to February, 2010, there won’t be any election in between now and that scheduled time. We should at least breathe deep until that time arrives or take what we got with pride of not coping with the development. Recently though, there is an indication that our commissioner is taking some steps seriously. That is good news if it is true. Appointment of commissioner is more luckily as Mr. Brown Both have said. Unless, GOSS leaders want to appoint somebody as a commissioner in waiting, the appointment of a new commissioner at this point in time won’t help in establishing an effective County administration before February, 2010 general election. Let make use of our intellect this time in finding the right person for County top job. We need someone with knowledge and skills to govern and willing to stay in Ulang. You may have come across Nasser/Luakping Legislative Assembly of which each payam is represented. Other institutions were established so much so that Major general Gathoth Gatkuoth doesn’t run his county solitarily. Yes, we can help in bringing a candidate whose vision is to develop Ulang in areas such physical infrastructures, security, education, sanitation and many more if we want to if we pooled our support together and call for that person election. Security does matter the most especially with international organizations. These organizations won’t operate in areas that are deemed to be insecure. Therefore, it is crucial that our people are aware of that impediment to development if they happen to choose the next commissioner. But you know what David; it takes only a person like you to start educating the masses about the consequences of wrong choice. Yrs, David Bang Teny
